The celebrity led team (as seen above) includes Hugh Dennis (of Mock the Week fame), former television presenter Nick Hancock and former Stoke boss Tony Pulis, who, along with their 21 team mates, will attempt what is dubbed the 'Everest of open-water rowing'. In fact, less than 100 people have successfully battled against the forces of the sea to complete the challenge, which is a lot less than have stood at the summit of Everest.
Tower to Tower Route 2015
The arduous journey started at Tower Bridge this Monday 25th at 8am and, depending on the weather and tides, finishes in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower next Monday 1st June. The team will be rowing against the elements of the Thames, Seine and the dangerous expanse of the Channel all whilst suffering from sleep deprivation, potentially rough seas, aching muscles, sea sickness and living in cramped quarters.
At the time of writing this blog the team has just gone past Duclair, well on the way to their Monday arrival time and had surpassed their charity target by £24,000 meaning a total of £224,516.13 had been raised for the Donna Louise. Undoubtedly this sum will increase come Monday for this undeniably worthy cause and we wish the rowers the best of luck with the rest of the journey.
