Angels in London....

Well last week saw the return of the Victoria's Secret Catwalk Show return to London - taking place this Tuesday gone at the fabulous Earl's Court in London! The world famous femme fatale's known as the Victoria Secret Angels descended on London to show off both the svelte figures and the fashion statements that are covering them! Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo, Karlie Kloss, Elsa Hosk and Lindsay Ellingson were all there!

All of the ladies looked undeniably gorgeous in their rather scimpy outfits and giant prop wings, but here's a pick of some of our favourite outfits from the catwalk!

First up we have the beautiful Candice Swanepoel (we're not sure how to pronounce it either), the golden angel (no pun intended) of the Victoria Secret girls. She rocked the catwalk donned in lavish golden wings and cream lingerie which we loved! But what pondering most intently is where we can get a pair of those glamorous boots, they certainly wouldn't look out of place on the Lady Boys of Bangkok stage!

This was another one of favourite costumes of the show - this angel was wearing a fabulously exotic ethnic outfit! You know we are rather partial to a colourful garment and this definitely ticks the box in that regard! Does this costume remind anyone of Jacqueline's tribute to Nicki Minaj from this years show?

Another outfit we loved was this devilishly delightful outfit worn by the beautiful Alessandra Amrosio! What springs to mind when looking at this outfit is Ole's outfit that she wore during this years show finale! Is Victoria Secret secretly paying homage to the Lady Boys of Bangkok? We certainly like to think so!

Last but in no way least we have this sultry silver number worn by Jourdan Dunn! We love this spage age fairy kind of look - especially how delicate the wings look! A costume for Trevor in next years production perhaps??

Well sadly all good things must come to an end, and much like the Victoria Secret Fashion Show The Lady Boys of Bangkok Red Hot Kisses tour has finished for the year! We humbly bowed to our audiences one last time and with a fabulous shimmy off stage the curtains drew for the last time in 2014. DO NOT FEAR however - we will be back in 2015 with are brand new show BEAUTIES AND THE BEATS bringing our audiences to the highest level of frantic fun that only the Lady Boys know how! See you all next year!! Mwaaaaaaah!

Wintertide on the Equator....

Oh English Winters how we love you!! Those freezing cold temperatures, that brief lump in throat few seconds between turning the ignition and the engine rumbling to life in the morning and that lovely frost - which never has any respect for the fact that you have to be in work in 20 minutes. English winters can be testing, but at least we endure them together and that includes the Lady Boys during their touring months! Luckily for the ladies however, they get to return to beautiful and most importantly warm home country of Thailand between tours, so this weeks blog is a rather envious look at some of the Thai winter scenery they will be experiencing when they return in December!

Temperatures in Bangkok at the time of writing this blog are 29 degrees and that's at 11pm - so it seems living near the equator is anything but straight down the middle (temperature wise that is)! The above picture was taken at the W Hotel in Bangkok - which promises all year round sun bathing within the luxurious capital! See those happy people on the loungers? Jealous yet? Give it time......

How about this one? This doing anything for your jealousy gland? This is photo of the popular winter holiday destination of Koh Larn just of the south coast of Thailand and I'm sure we all agree it looks stunning! From the deep blue waters to the craggy ominous peaks who wouldn't want to spend the winter months here?

Well if beautiful island vistas don't do anything for you....how about the white sandy, palm tree lined beaches of Koh Samui!? This is another island within the Gulf of Thailand that boasts white beaches and blue seas - and yes the above picture is a typical day during what we know as the winter months!

Here's some sunny sunny temperatures - but a little more cultural this a picture taken in Chiang Mai which is the largest and cultural city in northern Thialand! This particular gleaming monument is known as the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep - which is cities most famous temple dating back to 1383.

We hope this little trip through a wintery Thailand hasn't left you to longing for the sun! The Lady Boys of Bangkok will sure be enjoying these luxuries when they return to Thailand after our finial run in Sheffield finishing on the 6th December! If you find yourself around Sheffield make sure you come along and say goodbye!

Gandey's Worldwide....

That Christmas time of year is upon us once again and that means the winter circus season is well and truly upon us! Gandey World Class Productions is wrapping up for winter - not just with clothing but also with productions. The Lady Boys of Bangkok are reaching the end the end of their amazing Red Hot Kisses tour - having reach Sheffield this weekend their last stop before heading back to Bangkok. Gandey's Thrill Circus has amazed and dazzled audiences in both Merseyside and the West Midlands and is now wrapped up for the winter ready for more dates to be announced next year. Our productions may be in hibernation but our good friends in the circus world certainly aren't - they are all across the globe performing is a number of different shows!
The above video of the amazing Duo Essence a contemporary take on the traditional Chinese Pole act that we helped put into La Clique during this years Edinburgh Fringe. I think we can all agree that they show some amazing acrobatic feats wrapped in a beautiful and effortless package - an act that are proud went down a storm in Edinburgh and that we're very much looking forward to working with in the future. During the Winter season Duo Essence are performing as part of the Roncalli Apollo show in St. Mortiz - so if you find yourself in Switzerland this winter they come with the highest of recommendations.

The next act on our friends list is Equivokee - a clown troupe with a lively, energetic unabashedly fun act that has taken them all over the world. The above video of their act at last years 37th Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival - where the boys provided entertainment with some clever audience participation and a skipping rope - our favourite part is when he puts the bag on the unsuspecting man's head, but we'll let you watch for yourself's. Equivokee joined us at our Skegness show in Butlin's this year - which was actually their second year at one of our Butlin's circuses. They are currently performing at the Eindhoven Christmas Circus in Holland for the Winter season.
Our good friends Billy and Emily England can be seen in the above video performing their amazing roller-skating act in New York. We have worked both Billy and Emily on many a production and Emily is fresh from her amazing performance at the Bandenburg Gate Cereomony marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Emily is currently performing her breath taking Bubble Girl act as part of the Palazzo variety show in Saarbrucken, Germany.

Winter is coming....and so is Christmas!

You may have felt it in the air or read it on a calendar and regardless of whether it's your arms clinging to your shivering sides or your keen seasonal eye it's hard to deny that winter is well and truly upon us. As quick as a shimmering twirl of a Lady Boys number the temperature seems to have plummeted very obnoxiously to a much colder temperature. Followed by the inevitable outbreak of coats, scarf's and talk of the most Marmite-like of all holidays, IIIIITTTSS CHRRRIIISSTTTMMAAA- sshhh - quite Noddy, its not even December yet.

Despite Noddy Holders typically overzealous approach it is true, Christmas is just around the corner and with it we see the return of the much loved and sometimes loathed Christmas adverts. Those heart-warming adverts that never fail in conning us into believing that these multinational corporations actually care about our feelings - and not just our monies. So this here blog is a showcase of a couple of our favourite Christmas ads of the year.

No Christmas advert list would be complete without John Lewis's newest and rather touching annual AdMas (new word for the purposes of the blog - it's an amalgamation of Advert and Christmas in case you didn't get it - Oh you did it? Well soooorrry, didn't mean to call into question your cognitive abilities - anyway on with this Christmas malarkey) edition. It tells the tale of a young boys pet penguin and his search for love. With the hopes of not spoiling the ending as you'd already have watched it (now would be the time) - he turns out to be imaginary leading the moral epiphany that all penguins figments of the imagination. Hold on, that wasn't what it was about? Ooooh now I get it - the young boy just wanted to be a penguin pimp for Christmas and his wish came true? No!? Well regardless of your conclusions it's nice so it's in the list.

The next one is definitely towards the UP spectrum on the tearjerkameter scale and it's the Christmas offering from Boots. It tells the short story of a nurse finishing a presumably long shift on the evening of Christmas day - as she is driving home it shows other people arriving at airports and setting off in cars but gives no indication of the destination or relation to one another. As the nurse arrives home she walks past the glass living room door to see the outline of people and the warm glow of light only to open the door and see her family waiting to greet her with a late Christmas just for her. Presumably, though this isn't shown, they then shower her with classic boots gifts like make-up, those shower pack combo things and a luffa. It may be another generically heart-warming AdMas but it's a particular string tugger so it's makes our list.

This next one is from Sky and it must have cost an absolute fortune in royalty costs - everything is in here from The Muppets to Frozen as you follow a families fantastical frolic through some of this years biggest blockbusters. Though the advert is aimed at children who don't tend to pay the Sky bill - it is still well put together and who doesn't love Olaf the snowman from Frozen?

Coca Cola, the old Christmas advert heavy weight champions, are back this year with another festive feast for eyes. It's as Christmassy as a snowman throwing up tinsel and it's all about the act of giving - it shows people giving each other umbrellas and throwing surprise discos and is all wrapped up by the 'Give a little happiness' slogan. Coca Cola never fail to deliver and we don't know who they get the play Santa in their ads but he should be Santa in EVERYTHING....the man is Christmas personified.

That's it for a pick of the faves and The Lady Boys of Bangkok are certainly ramping up festivities as it creeps into these late winter months! Coca Cola may have the most Christmassy man in existence but does he look better than us in a Santa outfit? We think not. The ladies are just finishing up an amazing stop in Belfast, but then it's onto Sheffield for our very last stop this years RED HOT KISSES tour! Then IIIIIIIIITTTTTSSS CHRIIIIISSSTMMAAAASS!! What are you still doing here Noddy? We thought you'd left.....

Life in plastic, it's fantastic!

There's one name you may have heard flying around the news and social media airwaves over the past week - 'Renee Zellweger'. That's right everyone's favourite blundering journalist (with a rather questionable English accent) has made a comeback, of sorts, during a rare public appearance at ELLE's 21st annual Women in Hollywood Awards in LA and her name has been ringing in our ears ever since. You find yourself asking 'Well what warrants this surge in public interest? A new film role perhaps? Fashion range? Fragrance? BRIDGET JONES 3?' and the answer would be none of the above - it's her new...........face. That's right Renee has gone and got herself a new face, we here at the Lady Boys HQ are all about the glam but Renee's is certainly shocking mostly due to the stark contrast from her previous image.

While you let that sink in lets go on a journey through the wonderful of celebrity changelings as they make or break not only their careers but also their faces....

First up it's everyone's favourite Osbourne - SHARRRROOOOON or to everyone else besides Ozzy Sharon Osborune. The musical manager from Brixton is best known for her portrayal of herself in the reality TV show that bears the family name and also her hard nosed judging on the X Factor. However her nose isn't the only thing that may be hard on Sharon's face as the star has admitted to spending a whopping £300,000 on surgery! Compared to other celebrity facial mishaps Sharon's surgery, though very apparent when compared with her old photos, doesn't look to bad and she has promised that she would not have any surgery on her lips or eyes - which is a very level headed proclamation.

This is an example of somebody going a little bit to far down under the knife. This is Jocelyn Wildenstein a famous New York socialite whose been experimenting with plastic surgery since 1997 and if your finding it hard to decipher her age she is 74. We were under the assumption that plastic surgery was supposed to make your ageing face look younger, not mask your age completely beneath an ageless mask. Her plastic surgery antics have earned her the name "Cat Woman" which you probably guessed is based on her Lion-esque facial demeanour.

Now onto a more successful story the ageless Jennifer Aniston who turned 45 this year, yes that's right 45 and it turns out she may have had a helping hand. Rachel, sorry...Jennifer doesn't deny have plastic surgery on her nose but it is rumoured she has also had face lifts, Botox and some other forms of facial augmentation to try and keep her face useful! Celebrities could take not of Jennifer s less is more approach to plastic surgery as it seems to be doing to trick.

All this talk of plastic reminds us of the plastic themed number we have in this years Lady Boys of Bangkok production 'Red Hot Kisses' which we're currently showcasing to the lovely people of Leeds for our last two days! Then it's on to Belfast! We think we may need a lift by the end of this tour......

Thai Beef Stir Fry Recipe...

Well it's the weekend folks, and in celebration of this ever fleeting wondrous free time (for most) we call the end of the week here's a tasty Thai treat for you to try. As you may well  know, or could have guessed, the ladies love the food of their homeland and so today we have the recipe for the a very tasty Thai Beef Stir Fry and it's surprisingly easy to make!

Like with all things you cook ingredients are a must, and this is what you'll need:
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 400g beef strips (Or if you can't find these just cut steaks into thin slices)
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
  • A couple of basil leaves for good measure
  • Tickets to see the Lady Boys of Bangkok (these are necessary for the recipe due hold the significant spot in the concoction of a good time)
Now are you ready for the hard part? Nah? Neither are we. So here the ridiculously simple method...heat a wok until smoking hot - pour in the oil and swirl accordingly - then place in beef strips and chilli and cook off till lightly brown (should take about 3 minutes) - add the sauce and basil leaves then making sure the meat is sufficiently coated and voila you got yourself a small bit of Thailand in your kitchen. The whole fiasco should take around 5 minutes to prep and 5 minutes to cook - 10 minutes all in isn't bad for a tasty meal. Below is what it should look like - if your a professional photographer with a fancy camera.

You can find the original recipe here - link - now whilst you enjoy your Tasty Beef of Thailand think about the Lady Boys of Bangkok who are currently continuing their sensational tour in Leeds for the next 15 days! If you live in or anywhere near Leeds check out our show times here. Happy weekend!

Gandeys Circus is on the move.....

Now you may have heard through the grapevine that Gandey's Thrill Circus is back for the second time this year! After a hugely successful stint in Liverpool back in February, we're brushing off the Big Top and preparing to bring our magical all human take on modern day circus to the intu Merry Hill Shopping Centre, in the West Midlands this October half term!! With a whole new amazing line up of acts from all over the globe it's set to be a one of kind treat this October half term!

It's been rather a busy year for us here at Gandey World Class Productions HQ - what with Gandey's Thrill Circus, The Lady Boys of Bangkok and Butlins this past year there hasn't been much time to breath, and with more to come this winter it doesn't seem to be letting up! Which is certainly a good thing, proving undoubtedly that people still have a thirst for big top productions and cabaret!

A little heart-warming news next from the charitable arm of our organisation - the wonderful 'Circus Starr', which, if you didn't know puts on free circus shows for special needs children the length and breadth of the country! The first thing that comes to mind when people think of the circus isn't generally thoughts technology and innovation, more connotations of breath taking feats and.....popcorn. Circus Starr however is working against these assumptions bring circus firmly by the poles of it's tent into the 21st centery with their new app, dubbed the 'Show and Tell' app. 'Show and Tell' was thought up by our imaginative Circus Starr team in cojuction with organisations such as the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts, the app is designed to help children with conditions such as autism to prepare for what they will see at the circus, record it and keep it as a cherished memory. A summary of the app and there work recently appeared in the Guardian (I know, we're moving on up right?) which you can read here. The app also has room to grow with a show and tell aspect being applicable to many more situations in a child life, such as the first day of school or first time at the theatre or just about anything you can think of! Giving the app a very large area in which to grow and develop. Keep up to date with the app by giving it a download, it's available in Apple App Store, and is soon to be available on Android.

Keep posted for news and updates on all our productions at our site gandey.com, and if you find yourself in the West Midlands this October half term why not pop in and see us?

Autumnal Fashions....

You may be clinging desperately onto the last remnants of Summer but Autumn is most definitely upon us with a couple of Tuesdays ago marking the beginning of  Autumn Equinox. No more long warm nights, no more summer clothes and no more cheaper heating bills - the last one of which hurts us the most....BUT don't despair, Autumn has it's own merits - there's.....those....errrrm....beautiful colours and....you know....the....crunch of leaves under foot - but most importantly of all there's a chance to change up your fashion d├ęcor with a more wintry aesthetic. If  crunchy leaves and colder fashions have got you a least a little bit more excited for the winter don't you worry - The Lady Boys of Bangkok have got you covered with our breakdown of the hottest fashion trends circling the runway - the web and our wardrobes over the next few months.

Number one on the trend setters Autumn wish list is the rather asymmetrical solo earring; this rebel chic is all the rage with celebrities and models this autumn. The lonesome ear look has been rocked by Cara Delevingne the modelling worlds current it girl and even the more classy and debonair Emma Watson has taken the the red carpet with the look. However unusual an asymmetrical look may look (showing off the vocabulary there) in this relatively symmetrical world, we here at Lady Boys HQ rather like the look. Too many of today's high fashion trends never make their way to the high street, but with celebrity endorsement from fashion icons like Emma Watson we hope this one does, and the ladies love a bit of difference in their attire so watch out for those solo earrings glistening in future shows.

BELTS....who doesn't love a good belt? It one of the accessories that can make an outfit...adding or subtracting colour accordingly and tying an outfit together with some midriffing originality. Belts are also on the conveyor belt of 'in' this Autumn, we weren't entirely aware that they were ever 'out' but the internet assures that they are most certainly 'in'. All this inning and outing may have you macarena-ing all over the shop, but before you shake it all about take what do you think to our favourite belts of the season? Slightly lacking if exposed to elements - but they certainly fit the bill for us inside the Sabai Pavilion!

We also loved Abbey Clancey's daring belt/dress combo on the Pride of Britain Awards red carpet - very Aztec-y (definitely a word), wonder if they sell them in Primark?

Now our last ear to ground fashion tip we is colour themed - now those of you who have seen our shows may have noticed that there is a faaaaiiiirrlly significant splash of Pink in our costumes - lighting and basically everything...needless to say WE LOVE PINK. It therefore gives is great pleasure to announce that Pink is in this autumn - not just any pink mind you, no no. The rather subdued pale Pink is the colour of choice, so keep that In mind the next time you think that pink may be to garish for an outfit....and just to let you know the Pink Tartan Skirt coupled with a Pink Beret is a timeless look - but shhhhhh don't tell anyone! For more fashion tips for the Autumn check out our font of fashion knowledge here in this little article - LINK.

The Lady Boys of Bangkok are moving onto Leeds for our next 15 days of performances starting this Friday! Check out our performance times - here - we will be looking out for these fashion statements in the crowd!
